Off to the record store to look for some Simon and Garfunkel. I feel I'm stepping onto a slippery slope here: new artists/styles of music are dangerous things for completists. But I'll try to start small, with just a CD or maybe two. (Those of you who knew me in college can start laughing now to save time.)
I'm told that The Concert in Central Park is the best album of theirs, but I think I'd like to start with the studio recordings. Blame it on The Graduate, I guess...
Oh, and: I do, in fact, have parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme in my spice cupboard. And yes, I always do feel the urge to put them in that order. (Hey, compulsiveness is its own reward.)

"For Emily, Whereever I May Find Her" remains a favorite song of mine.

If you want to do some general perusing and see what you like best, I do own this box set
. It's on my iPod now, so you can feel free to borrow the CDs themselves. :)

I remember listening to 'Cecilia' with a friend who commented "I love this song! It's so happy!". I just sorta stared at her for a minute and asked if she had listened to the lyrics :)
Oh, and my mother looks like Art Garfunkel - so much so that friends from high school era called her 'Art'.
Yeah, you'll be opening a new CD-rack-annex soon, I'm sure.

I already need one: the tail-end of the comedy/spoken-word section is piled on the floor next to the black monolith that is the current rack system. :-)
But I did well today: only bought the one-CD Best Of Simon & Garfunkel, rather than the five-CD box set (which only costs three times as much as the best-of disc... hmmm...)
Unfortunately, while driving to the store, I managed to earworm myself on '80s/'90s Bowie (have I mentioned recently what a great song "Absolute Beginners" is?), so it may be a little longer before I get to immerse myself in S&G.

What?!?!? You went to all that effort to buy a CD and you're not going to go play it?

I'm playing it now: when I said "a little longer," I meant "a little longer." :-)
Okay, so it's got the electrified version of "The Sound of Silence," not the all-acoustic-guitar version. Sounds good, though.
They come to the Fleet Center in December (the 11th and 13th, i believe). Tickets go on sale on Monday.
