From DavisDVD's "Daily News" page:
Look for Universal to release the latest incarnation of Pride & Prejudice, starring Keira Knightley, on March 14th. Among other things, the disc should include both the US and UK alternate endings.
Errr. US and UK alternate endings? Is one happy and one sad? Does one of them omit some witty Austen-esque discussion of evolution in order to avoid irritating the fundies? Is the murderer ultimately revealed to be a different person in each one? Does only one of them feature the Harrison Ford voice-over? What? (And before you say it; given the way movie adaptations of novels generally work, none of the above strikes me as all that unlikely a possibility.)

The US release tacked on a sappy scene that they made up for the ending, the UK ending was the proper ending from the novel.

I think you mean The Madness of George III. Not Shakespeare, but it was a play and when they made the movie, they changed the title to The Madness of King George.

IMDB talks about it in their trivia section for the movie.
