|03:26 pm - Yuggoth, err, *Pluto* gets demoted|
After years of wrangling and a week of bitter debate, astronomers voted on a sweeping reclassification of the solar system. In what many of them described as a triumph of science over sentiment, Pluto was demoted to the status of a “dwarf planet.”

Ok, unless that's sarcastic, it's not just me. I can't quantify WHY it bothers me beyond "sentiment", but it does.

Well, it's not sarcastic... I do mean that. Very much so.

All the same, I feel somewhat better hearing someone with the background agreeing. :)
I did watch that show a little, but it was a disgustingly long time ago. I don't recall that I thought much of it at the time, either....
I still even have the sample
Personally, I'm just annoyed because I can probably never get back the brain cell I devoted to learning Pluto as part of the list of planets as a child.
But, of course, there could be worse consequences
from today's decision... :-)

I wanna know what the new mnemonic will be! Good grammar says you can't end in a preposition! What will the vampires eat now and where will they eat them??
What will the vampires eat now and where will they eat them?
I think there's a "Uranus" joke here, but I'm too tired to attempt it properly... :-)

I nominate "Many Very Educated Men Just Screwed Up Nomenclature."
Like full of dwarves? With mines and axen and the like?
