*sigh*... another year, another compromised credit card (actually debit, but WTF). And I was just starting to be able to remember that card number, too.

It's a good thing the bank called me. And I can understand why they did: did I really spend $900+ at T-Mobile? Uh, don't think so, but I suppose it's possib-... hmmm? What's that? In Brooklyn, you say? Well, no, that's definitely not me; cancel the fucker and thank you.

But hey, at least this time the thief didn't try to soothe his conscience by using the card to donate to a Christian charity, as happened before.

Weirdly enough, the card that was compromised was the one I use the least - or at least in the fewest places. I have two standing pre-orders on it (DVD Empire, Amazon) and I don't really use it anywhere else. It's strange that this would be the one swiped.

If nothing else, this made cancelling a lot simpler: shift those two pre-orders to another card and I'm all done. (It's also easier to deal with all this the second time around, sadly.)

The other good news is that this debit card doesn't actually debit until the 26th of the month, so the charge hasn't actually come out of my account (and won't, now that I've challenged it).

I hadn't heard about Hannaford: thanks for the tip on that. Off to review charges for another account...
