Illustration from a textbook called Reproductive Patterns (book 4 in the Reproduction in Mammals series).
Um. Um. Um.
Current Mood: um.
... personally, I would say that's non-work-safe and tuck it behind a cut, there, Doug.
fortunately, I wasn't still arguing with my editor about the bizarrely complex mechanics of possessivizing singular nouns...
It does have the virtue that both of the illustrations on that page are jarringly incongruous, though. (at least the guy in the lower illustration has pants on. :)

*has coworker wander into cube asking if I'm ok*
*coworker also asphyxiates*
...though the bottom one is not, strictly speaking, reproduction.
At least, I hope it isn't.
I initially thought neither one was, until I realized that what I took for an eye on the, er, receiving animal in the top one was actually an ear, and that they were in fact both cats. At first I was very puzzled by both images, because the creature on the bottom seemed to have the tail of a cat but the head of a rabbit.

Well to be honest- it does look like a cat mounting a rather strange-tailed rabbit, but apparently some farmer can reproduce while wearing pants so hey- whatever works in their world!
