From an editorial in the Palm Beach Post:

“… the U.S. Department of Education is declaring about 200 television programs inappropriate for closed-captioning and denying federal grant requests to make them accessible to the hearing-impaired.…The government is refusing to caption Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie, apparently fearing that the deaf would fall prey to witchcraft if they viewed the classic sitcoms.”

No, I thought of that, but then you realize that there are a ton of other things they do caption, like soap operas and talk shows, that are just as bad.

I've been left speechless by this information, yet I feel a great need to register my speechlessness in a comment.

I am in awe of the breathtaking stupidity involved. I really am.
