I've posted this before (to GweepNews), but it came up in discussion over the weekend and I thought it was worth mentioning again: an astonishingly nerdy technical commentary on the events of Return of the Jedi, pointing out that the explosive destruction of a partly-built Death Star in orbit about the Endor moon would result in nuclear winter and the death of the Ewoks:

"The scope of mass-extinction will be nearly total. Only very simple lifeforms will survive on Endor, and the [E]woks are not quite simple enough."

For whatever reason, this makes me very happy.
