Aaaaaaaagahhhhd. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagggaaaahhhhddd. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Brutal stuff. Fantastic and riveting and brilliantly written/acted/directed, yes, but really pretty bloody hard on the poor audience. To give you some idea of the flavour of the viewing session, here's my comment from about the hour-and-a-half mark: "If the last hour of this episode turns out to feature nothing but singing, dancing animated hippos, it'll still be the most cheerless two-and-a-half hours of TV I've ever watched."
(As things turned out, no hippos. Just in case you were wondering.)
The somewhat unexpected good news is that in addition to the three episodes of Series III and the one-off Hong Kong episode that we've still to watch, a UK fansite reports that ITV is making a new one-off Cracker episode — written by Jimmy McGovern and featuring Robbie Coltrane — with a possible new series to follow. I can't wait.
Oh, and broken_gizmo? Apparently you need to see this show... (evil laugh)
