From a CBC Arts interview with
Darth Sebaceous, er, Darth Tantrum, er, Hayden Christensen: "Christensen also confirmed recently that [George] Lucas got a helping hand with the script for Revenge of the Sith. In an interview with Playboy, he said the rumours about playwright Tom Stoppard working on the dialogue for the film are true."
Well, either that or the script was (eyes go really wide here) even worse
before Stoppard got his mitts on it, and the finished product was as close to real writing as he could drag it before his poor battered tolerance finally gave out.
But ultimately, I don't think anyone's ever going to convince me that the person responsible for this:
Anakin: You're so beautiful.
Padmé: It's only because I'm so in love.
Anakin: No, it's because I'm so in love with you.
...is the same person who wrote this:
Rosencrantz: Shouldn't we be doing something... constructive?
Guildenstern: What did you have in mind? A short, blunt human pyramid?
I sort of figured in hindsight that it was rather more of a Samuel Beckett moment. ;)
