The Coolidge Corner Theater is showing a series of great – and, uh, not-so-great – films from the 1970s over the next month or so. The full schedule and details are here, but in brief: Dog Day Afternoon; The French Connection; Jaws; Deliverance; Enter the Dragon (did I mention not-so-great?); Shaft (!); The Warriors; and The Harder They Come.

But... but... Jon Voight, back when he was still pretty. And Burt Reynolds looking quite remarkably like Wolverine. And, y'know, acting and direction and stuff like that.  :-)

(Don't get me wrong: I own Enter the Dragon on DVD, and it's enormously entertaining, especially when run as a double-bill with The Kentucky Fried Movie. I might even go see it when it plays at the Coolidge. But I'm not going to convince myself that it's a great film no matter how hard I try; it's a terrible film with some great bits, almost all of which are Bruce Li.)
